With this vision at heart, from the very moment we launched the brand, our goal was to create skincare using both Kyoto-sourced ingredients and organic materials.

Just as the phrase "have a cup of tea" has long been part of everyday language, tea is a familiar plant that has been widely used medicinally — for the body, skin, and hair — since ancient times.

KOTOSHINA has partnered with an organic green tea garden in Uji, Kyoto — a region with a long history as a source of high-quality green tea — to secure organic green tea ingredients, which we incorporate into all of our products.*

A Factory in a Leading Organic Nation

Encountering a French Factory and Natural Thermal Spring Water

In pursuit of creating organic cosmetics we could deliver with genuine confidence and peace of mind, we began searching for a factory partner in France — a leading nation in organic beauty.

Among the many factories we explored, we found one holding exclusive rights to the thermal spring water of Gamarde-les-Bains in southwestern France. This encounter led to the birth of KOTOSHINA, an organic cosmetics brand combining organic green tea from Uji, Kyoto, with natural French thermal spring water.

To ensure our products can be used for years to come, our goal is to minimize soil and water pollution as well as health risks to producers — staying gentle to skin, to people, and to the planet. Every day, we continue thinking about what we can do to make that possible.

The ingredients used in KOTOSHINA are sourced through organic farming methods, free from chemical pesticides and fertilizers. By choosing organic materials, we aim to minimize pollution of soil and water, as well as health risks to producers.
