Proper Skincare Is About Subtraction and Addition! Achieve Beautiful Bare Skin with Exfoliating Care
Why not rethink your usual routine? Face care can be broken down into two steps: "subtraction" and "addition."
Subtraction = Removing What You Don't Need
The first priority in face care is the "subtraction" step — removing what shouldn't be there. Most of us already cleanse and wash our face daily.
But if you're aiming for naturally beautiful skin, exfoliating care is a must too, especially for addressing rough texture around the nose and dullness. The skin's turnover cycle can range anywhere from about one to three months, depending on the season and your age.
The slower this cycle becomes, the duller and rougher skin tends to look.
Turnover relies on two key factors: the ability to generate new skin cells, and the ability to shed old, dead ones.
Exfoliating care supports that second function — shedding. The two most common types of exfoliating care are "gommage" and "peeling."
Peeling typically uses acids, which can sometimes be too much for skin to handle, leading to redness or stinging.
Gommage, on the other hand, uses naturally derived ingredients as the scrubbing agent rather than chemical ones, making it gentler on the skin overall.
KOTOSHINA's "Gommage White" is a luxurious formula combining natural skin-beautifying spa water from France with organic tea seed oil from Uji, Kyoto.
It cares for the hardened dead skin cells that cause dullness, revealing brighter, clearer-looking skin.

After removing makeup and excess oil with cleanser and face wash, gently towel-dry your face and hands.
Take about three pearl-sized amounts of "Gommage White" and spread it gently over your whole face.
Leave it for two to three minutes, and before it dries completely, gently massage in circular motions to lift away dead skin cells. Once the smooth, creamy gommage starts forming small, crumbly bits, your care is complete!
Rinse it off, and you'll notice skin looking a shade brighter right away — one of its most appealing qualities.
We recommend exfoliating care about once or twice a week. Some peeling and gommage products can leave skin feeling dry afterward, but "Gommage White" is generously formulated with moisturizing ingredients, including tea seed oil.
You'll notice your skin feeling hydrated the moment you rinse the gommage away.
Addition = Nourishment
Once you've finished cleansing, face wash, and gommage, it's time for the "addition" step. Skin that's had dirt, excess oil, and dead cells thoroughly removed is left soft and better able to absorb moisture and nutrients. It's best to move on to this next step as quickly as possible after gommage.
KOTOSHINA Recommends a Three-Step Routine: Lotion → Oil → Cream White
STEP 1: Lotion White. On skin softened by gommage, start by delivering moisture with Lotion White. Its main ingredient, natural skin-beautifying spa water from France, is formulated with a well-balanced blend of 10 minerals, calming the skin while thoroughly replenishing moisture.
STEP 2: Beauty Oil. Nourish that soft, hydrated skin with Beauty Oil. Featuring our signature tea seed oil, along with baobab seed oil and argan oil — both ideal for anti-aging care — it brings firmness and radiance to the skin.
STEP 3: Cream White. As the finishing step, Cream White acts like a "lid," sealing in the moisture and nourishment your skin just absorbed. Skin cared for this thoroughly takes on a soft, plump texture that's hard to resist touching.
Beautiful skin is a source of confidence. When you take the time to care for yourself through skincare, doesn't it feel like both your mindset and your skin grow healthier together?
