The Secret of a Facial Soap That Makes Your Skin More Beautiful the More You Wash

Happy New Year!
Thank you for your continued support this year as well.
This is Matsumura from KOTOSHINA Kyoto BAL, an organic cosmetics brand born in Kyoto.
For our first column of the new year, we're introducing "Green Tea Soap Rich."
With its understated look and gentle scent, it might seem like a fairly modest item at first glance — but it's actually packed with tea seed oil, the very essence of what makes KOTOSHINA who we are, along with plenty of thoughtful craftsmanship. We think this column might just change your impression of it.
The Secret Behind a Facial Soap That Makes Skin More Beautiful with Every Wash
"Green Tea Soap Rich" is one of KOTOSHINA's classic, beloved items.
Generously formulated with tea seed oil and yuzu extract, it gently cleanses the face, leaving skin more hydrated and radiant with every use. Even those with sensitive skin have told us how comfortably they can use it.
Especially during dry seasons, it washes away only what's unnecessary while moisturizing and softening skin, making it easier for the moisturizing ingredients in toners and creams that follow to absorb even more effectively.
But behind Green Tea Soap Rich's easy use and high quality lies a secret in how it's actually made!
The first secret is the "cold process" method.
Rather than using heat, this method relies solely on the natural reaction heat generated when the ingredients are combined, allowing the soap to cure slowly over time.
Because no external heat is applied, delicate, heat-sensitive plant extracts and other beneficial skin ingredients stay intact and locked into the soap without being broken down.
Natural glycerin, produced during the curing process, also forms a thin film on the skin during washing, helping lock in moisture.
The second is the "hand-milled, mold-poured" method.
With machine-milled methods, the soap base typically needs to make up about 98% of the formula, leaving only about 2% for natural beauty ingredients. With the hand-milled, mold-poured method, the soap base makes up only around 40%, leaving a generous 60% for natural beauty ingredients.
And the third is "care and attention"
Once the soap is finished, the final inspection and packaging are all done entirely by hand.
This is where the care and dedication of everyone involved in making the soap gets wrapped in as well.
The process described above takes one to two months to complete and requires demanding quality control, making it poorly suited to mass production. But it's precisely because of our strong commitment to delivering the highest quality, gentlest soap possible that we've chosen to make it this way.
We hope you'll try "Green Tea Soap Rich," made with the dedication and care of KOTOSHINA and our soap artisans.
