With a shorter rainy season than usual, we've all been exposed to more UV rays than in a typical year — meaning more damage to the skin as well. Skin exposed to UV becomes more sensitive, triggering a stronger protective response against outside irritants. In response, skin tries to defend itself by thickening the outer layer, a condition known as "keratosis" or skin thickening. In other words, the skin's texture becomes rougher as dead skin builds up.
So what can you do once this thickening happens? The answer is exfoliating care.
Removing that thick, built-up layer of dead skin helps toner and serum absorb more effectively afterward.
KOTOSHINA's "Gommage White" is a facial scrub with a peeling-like effect. Spread a thin layer over your skin, let it sit for a few minutes, then gently massage.
You'll notice small, eraser-like bits coming off — that's the dead skin and excess oil being lifted away.
It's satisfying to watch it come off, but be careful not to over-rub, as that can actually contribute to further thickening.
Gommage White also contains moisturizing ingredients, so your skin stays hydrated even after a light rinse.
Of course, don't forget to follow up with toner and cream after towel-drying to replenish and lock in moisture.
